INSTRUCTORS
Robert Harvey - first
began studying Shorinjin Ryu Karate at Saito Ninjitsu Academy under Mark
Saito Sr. Sensei in Mt. View CA from 1973 to 1977 attaining the
rank of San Dan (3rd degree Black Belt).
Introduced to Aikido in Alaska, moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1979 studying
under Eto Sensei and Yamanaka Sensei at the Honolulu YMCA Dojo.
After receiving Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) in 1981 moved to Tokyo,
Japan to study at the Kinokenkyukai Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido Hombu
Dojo. In 1983 joined the first Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido Instructor
School under Tohei Sensei, Maruyama Sensei, and Otsuka Sensei.
Graduated in 1985 with the rank of San Dan (3rd degree Black Belt) and an
Instructors License. Began teaching Aikido at Yokota US Air Force
base in Husa, Japan for the next 10 years on weekends, receiving Yon Dan
(4th degree Black Belt) in 1992. After returning to the San
Francisco Bay Area in 1998 taught an Adult Education class,
"Golf with Mind and Body" and "Ki in Your Daily Life"
for several years. Also started teaching Aikido in his home garage
until building a dojo in the backyard and has been teaching Aikido since.
Harumi (Takada) Harvey - her
interest started with Oki Yoga in 1978 in Yokohama, Japan. She began
studying Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido at the Reishinkan Dojo in Yokohama in
1980 under Matsushima Sensei. She was accepted as a member of the
first Kinokenkyukai Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido Instructor School in 1983 under
Tohei Sensei, Maruyama Sensei, and Otsuka Sensei. Graduating in 1985
with Ni Dan (2nd degree Black Belt) and an Instructors License, she began
teaching Aikido at Yokota US Air Force base in Husa, Japan for the next 4
years on weekends. Became a member of the Shinnyo-en Buddhist Temple
in 1986 and has attained the rank of Dai Risshi and continues to practice
today. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1998 started
teaching Aikido with her husband in their home garage until building a
dojo in the backyard and has been teaching Aikido since.
